About Miss Berry

Miss Berry’s mission is to reduce fruit waste from grower to wholesaler. We do this through a streamlined distribution chain for class 3 soft fruit. We arrange quick, traceable transport from grower to food processer, work with short lines of communication, and come up with achievable solutions for everyone. This helps us get a better price for growers and supply high quality resources to the food processing industry.

Miss Berry strives to reduce food waste through a transparent, sustainable distribution chain for class 3 soft fruit. This helps growers get a better price for their residual stream and supplies the food processing industry with high quality raw materials, and much less food is thrown away.

About Manon Krijnen

Manon Krijnen is the driving force behind Miss Berry. As the daughter of a chicory grower, she started her company after hearing about a soft fruit grower that was looking for a buyer for his class 3 fruit. Manon took it upon herself to find a buyer and she did. That year she supplied the food processer in Germany with 50,000 kilos of overripe raspberries and blackberries.

She quickly saw that there was also a lot of demand for class 3 strawberries and other soft fruit. She contacted more growers. Her solution-oriented manner and her desire to connect the different stakeholders meant that her company grew quickly. Within 3 years the 50,000 kilos of class 3 soft fruit had grown to more than 3,5 million kilos a year.

“Growers in the Netherlands perform at a high level. Still, every one of them has a residual stream of less attractive or overripe fruit. While the costs and effort that go into these strawberries and berries are the same, they cannot be sold to supermarkets or greengrocers. I make sure that this processing fruit quickly gets to food processing plants for whom they are a valuable resource. It is a sustainable, total solution that reduces food waste.”
