Every berry, be it a strawberry or raspberry, is ‘raised’ with the greatest care by growers. But soft fruit too has fruit that is not considered 1 st or 2nd class. Miss Berry loves this fruit and sees that it is exceptionally suitable for industrial food processing. Every day, Miss Berry helps thousands of kilos of class 3 fruit find their way to the food processing industry to be turned into delicious jams, purees and juices.

As the biggest buyer of class 3 soft fruit, Miss Berry is a trusted partner to growers who does her best to get them a better price. They jointly supply the food processing industry of West Europe with these tasty fruit resources, and everyone is happy.

OUR RANGE OF FRUIT

Miss Berry specialises in class 3 soft fruit such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, redcurrants and blueberries. Class 3 soft fruit are fruit that are a little overripe or that have been damaged during harvest. As they taste just as good as their fruity friends, it is such a pity to throw them away!

Luckily, many growers put these class 3 soft fruit aside for Miss Berry who buys this fruit and finds a good destination for them in the food processing industry. In 2023, we – the growers and Miss Berry – supplied the industry with more than 3.5 million kilos of ‘processing fruit’.

SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS

Fruit growers in the Netherlands are pioneers in sustainability. Yet, they cannot avoid waste caused by hail, surplus or deviating shapes or colour. This takes a lot of unnecessary energy, CO2, water and thus money. We want to ‘save’ as much class 3 soft fruit as we can by supplying the food processing industry in the region with this high quality resource. How do we do this? 

Our mission is to avoid food waste throughout the chain, from the grower to the wholesaler, by giving class 3 soft fruit an honourable place in the food chain. This is sustainable business. This is our cherry on the cake.

We collect the soft fruit (processing fruit) from the growers.

We support growers with packing materials, transport and so on.

We make the whole process traceable and transparent and have short lines of communications.

We supply this fruit to factories in West Europe who use it in their products.
